Week 4 of class - this stuff is great!

Week 4 of class -- we're learning bloglines

I think everyone knows I have an interest in Marketing and Friends groups, so the blogs I watch on my blogger account are:

Friends:Social Networking Sites for Engaged Library Services
The "M" Word - Marketing Libraries
Library Marketing - Thinking Outside the Book
The Happy Library

When my friend, Marsha and her husband Mel (who's a photographer) were teaching in China, they set up a blog, Working in Guangzhou. The blog acted as a diary for them and let the rest of us enjoy their trip and Mel's wonder photography.

Time is the primary advantage of an RSS over simply bookmarking your favorite blogs. You only have to go to one place rather than having to remember all the places you like to visit. Found something new -- add it to your newsreader!

Sometimes its kind of hard to find a blog when you're just searching for "library friends." You receive many hits and have to sort through the many entries that have nothing to do with what you're searching for.

Hi Lydia,
Setting up a RSS account is like having your own personal newsstand geared to your interests.
I've found that finding one relevant blog will often lead to other great blogs. Check a blog's sidebar for a blogroll (list of blogs that blogger recommends) and also look at a blog's comments for links to other blogs you may enjoy.
